The Community Services Block Grant Program assists low-income, including the elderly poor, to identify and solve problems that block the achievement of self-sufficiency and pursuit of improved living conditions.

The Community Services Block Grant supports both the core operations and many anti-poverty services of the LCCAA service delivery. The flexible nature of CSBG funding permits community based decisions regarding the development of programs and services to meet local needs.

Emergency Services

Emergency services meet the essential needs of low-income people in a financial crisis.

Housing Services

Housing Services assists participants in obtaining and maintaining adequate housing and a suitable living environment.

Community Participation

Community Participation promotes coordination with other service providers to work toward the solution of common problems facing low-income individuals.

Advocacy

Advocacy affirmative action and equal opportunity.

Self-Sufficiency

Self-Sufficiency is encouraged by assisting participants in making better use of available income, removing obstacles, and solving problems which block the achievement of self- sufficiency.

Employment

Activities help participants secure and retain meaningful employment through referral to the Works’ First Program, Ky. Dept. for Employment Services, resume and interview assistance, appropriate work attire and other specific needs determined on an individual basis.

Youth Development

Youth Development activities support the primary role of the family, giving priority to the prevention of youth problems and crime.

Eligibility

Clients must meet 125% of the Federal poverty guidelines.

This project is funded, in part, under a contract with the Cabinet for Health and Family Services with funds from the Community Services Block Grant Act of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Educational Scholarship Program

The Educational Scholarship Program assists eligible low-income individuals in the pursuit of post-secondary educational goals that will improve their quality of life and our community as a whole.

Stipends are awarded to eligible individuals to assist in their educational pursuits. Funds may be used for books, transportation, meals, child-care, supplies, tuition and other necessary items.

Client’s household must be at or below 125% of Federal poverty guidelines. Client must have acquired a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary educational institution.

Funding is in whole or in part from Federal. CHFS, or other State Funds.

Garden Project

The Garden Project helps individuals with low-incomes, including elderly clients, to be more self-sufficient by producing homegrown vegetables.

The Garden Project provides seeds, plants, fertilizer, and canning supplies to low-income consumers, including the elderly, to supplement their food and health needs.
